Innovation in the field of structural bonding: DuploTEC® 10630 SBF
The "Bonding Engineers" from Lohmann have developed a new adhesive solution for glass-metal compounds in the automotive industry.

2017_Spiegelfußverklebung.jpgDuploTEC® 10630 SBF is particularly suitable for the permanent mounting of attachments on windshields such as mirror bases or sensor mountings. Based on an epoxy adhesive, a 630μm thick reactive tape has resulted, which among other things, convinces with its shape stability during the curing process at increased temperatures. The trend towards autonomous driving and thus to an ever increasing number of assistance systems, which are also attached to the windshield, has necessitated the bonding of brackets that are increasing in size as well as in weight. With the development of DuploTEC® 10630 SBF, the Lohmann "Bonding Engineers" have successfully met this challenge. Heavy mounts also remain in the desired position during the warm-up phase of the curing process. DuploTEC® 10630 SBF thus enables a fast, clean and precise assembly process.

Bonding with DuploTEC® 10630 SBF on the windshield meets the requirements of the automotive industry with regard to torque, peeling and shear forces, and also passes the temperature and weathering tests.

The tape possesses the necessary flexibility even after curing at 130-170°C in order to compensate for the different thermal expansion of the substrates. The innovative tape DuploTEC® 10630 SBF is delivered as a perfectly fitting die-cut.

So that the customers themselves can make a picture of the "Smart Bonding Approach" from Lohmann, the Neuwied headquarters were extended by a technology center which was officially opened in October last year. The technology center stands for innovation, transparency and creativity. For example, in the new "Bonding Arena", the application engineering laboratory, the Bonding Engineers test and optimize the bonding processes also together with the customers. Thus, both customers and visitors are able to visualize and experience the "Smart Bonding Approach" and the Lohmann value chain in situ, for instance for the reactive systems, to which DuploTEC® 10630 SBF belongs. The workflow: product requirements, product selection, pretreatment, prototyping, assembly and component testing becomes a real-time demonstration of the skills of the "Bonding Engineers".
